Virginia Beach United Attempts to Rewrite History at Christos F.C.
By Nicholas King — May 28, 2024
As the sweet aroma of summer drifts ever closer, thoughts of a much-deserved vacation flood many minds. After a triumphant three-game win streak, Virginia Beach United has been rewarded with its first road trip of the year just in time for the turning of the season. The destination: Baltimore, Maryland, for a showdown with Christos F.C.
This is a venture that Virginia Beach has taken twice before, with both trips being ones that United wishes it could forget. In its two visits to Christos, Virginia Beach has lost in historic fashion. The two largest margins of defeat in United history have occurred on Plevyak Field: a 6-0 loss in 2022 and a staggering 7-0 blowout in 2023.
But this United team will be entering Baltimore with more moxie than ever before. Wednesday night’s match will mark the first time Virginia Beach travels to Christos as the first-place team in the Chesapeake Division. This top placement is largely due to the team's outstanding offense. United boasts the division's best goal differential at plus-6, an indication that another embarrassing shutout is hopefully out of the cards for VBU.
With this newfound confidence and a strong attacking lineup, Virginia Beach United is poised to challenge a scrappy Christos F.C. team and rewrite history on Plevyak Field. With a United victory, Virginia Beach sets its franchise win streak record at four consecutive games. The game kicks off on Wednesday at 6:00 PM.
